Chatterbooks author visit from Guy Bass

On Friday, we were extremely excited to host an event organised by Norfolk Schools Library Service. As well as North Denes Primary School and Edward Worlledge Primary School, two of the teachers at Moorlands have been running a lunchtime Chatterbooks group for some of our Year 5 pupils over the past few months. To celebrate the enthusiasm and commitment of the children involved, we were asked to host a visit from the author Guy Bass, the author of the Stitch Head and Atomic series (as well as several other books).

Children from the other two schools involved arrived just after lunch, with Guy and Kirsten from Norfolk SLS arriving a few minutes later. Guy then treated all the children and staff to a fantastic hour of stories, jokes and funny noises! The highlight was when he performed a song from the latest Stitch Head book, with special accompaniment from Marley in Deer Class. After entertaining 150 children and adults for an hour, Guy then spent another hour selling and signing copies of his books.

'He was so funny that I found it impossible to breathe,' said Harry from Owls Class. Romy from Deer Class said 'He's definitely my new favourite author. I bought two Stitch Head books, and I'm going to read them both at the same time.'

We had a wonderful afternoon and it was a great way to finish the term. Thank you to everyone at Norfolk SLS for arranging it and thank you Guy for being so funny. Good luck with the new Stitch Head book from everyone at Moorlands!
